Careful, Your on Holy Ground!
Exodus 3:5 - And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
I was studying out this time in the live of Moses when he had personal one on one time with God and a thought came to my mind.
What made the ground that he was standing on holy? Was it the the mountain itself?
No!
This ground before this day was just another piece of dirt. There was nothing special about it. It grew the same grass, the same plants, and the same bushes as any other mountain around it. The thing that made the ground that Moses was about to step on so holy was the presence of the Almighty God!
What's is it that makes the buildings that we meet in on Sunday's and Wednesday's so sacred, so holy? Is it the paint, the Sheetrock, the carpet? What about the people, is it the people that make tha building so special?
Absolutely not! The thing that makes those buildings so special is that For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.Matt 18:20. What makes it so special is the fact the God is present with us in the form of the Holy Spirit.
Now with these two first thoughts in mind let us also think about this.
We as Christians will often not put a lot of thought into the way we act, what we wear or what we say. We will go to the theater to see things that we know would not be pleasing to The Lord, we will get in our truck and turn up the music that we say that we are against, and we think that because we are in the comfort of our home that we can just take off the jacket of Christianity and hang it in the closet until we need it again.
Let me encourage you for just a second with this: the moment you are saved, God takes up residence in your heart in the form of the Holy Spirit.
I Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
We must be aware that once we become a child of the Living God that He is forever with us. Remember, Jesus said I will NEVER leave thee or forsake thee!
We must realize that everywhere we stand we are standing on holy ground because as a Christian we are forever in the presence of The Lord.
So the next time you get ready to take a drink of that beer, or watch that filth on late night TV, or sing along to your favorite ungodly song on the radio...
BE CAREFUL, BECAUSE YOUR STANDING ON HOLY GROUND!
